Risks of Stomach Cancer Caused by Mesothelioma and Asbestos Exposure

Anything that increases your chance of getting a disease is called a risk factor. Based on our experience as asbestos exposure attorneys and our experience with our mesothelioma clients, we noticed that risk factors for stomach cancer include the following:
- Being exposed to certain substances at work, i.e. asbestos exposure
- Smoking
- Using chew/snuff tobacco
- Diet (Diet high in salted, smoked, or poorly preserved foods)
- Helicobacter Pylori Infection of the stomach
- Chronic gastritis (Inflammation of the stomach)
- Age
- Gender (Male)
- Pernicious anemia
- Intestinal metaplasia
- Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) or gastric polyps
- Having a family history of stomach cancer
The risk of stomach cancer increases with any of the above mentioned factors. The above list illustrates many of the common examples of stomach cancer risk factors.
